How to use the EasyDCC system

 

Introduction

1) The program track is the one closest to you (PGM PrTRK button refers to it)

2) The track farthest away is the running or MNTRK

 

Getting started

1) The black wall wart needs to be plugged into the middle plug for EasyDCC to work.

2) Main track needs to be plugged into the plug to the right of the above wall wart.

3) If you make a mistake when hitting keys, you can get out of where you are at and return to the main menu by pressing ESC.

 

To find out the locomotive number programmed into your decoder (if any)

1)      Push program track button (PGM PrTRK)

2)      Push MACRO and then number 97, then ENTER.

a.       You should see the OK green light blink

b.      The address will hen be displayed on the screen (this may take a bit).

c.       Push ESC to go back to the main menu.

 

To program a LOCO address

1)      Push PGM PrTRK then ENTER

2)      Push LOCO

3)      Enter your address number (you do not need to enter leading zeroes).

4)      Push ENTER. You should see the OK blinking green light.

5)      It should say PGM address OK on the screen

6)      Push ESC key.

 

To find out a CV value

1)      Push PGM PrTRK then ENTER

2)      Push Macro, then number 99

3)      Enter your CV value that you want, and push ENTER.

4)      Wait for the value returned to be displayed. This may take a minute or two.

5)      To get out and return to the main menu at any time, hit ESC.

 

A little discussion

1)      Always have your decoder manual with you when trying to program CV’s. Decoders (especially those with sound) are becoming more complex and some CVs differ in their use by different manufacturers.

2)      Consult page 52 and 53 of the EasyDCC manual for reference  to short (2-digit) or long (4-digit) addresses.

3)      Please do not attempt to use Digitrax Po (or operations mode programming), on the main line. It will not work unless you have a Digitrax decoder that has the transpoding feature, you will not be able to read back what you programmed in.

4)      Since we are all still learning about all of this, bring your questions and your manual(s) for your DCC decoders/system to DCC clinic night.
